Bellevue Lifestyle Magazine is a new local magazine that intends to bring awareness and knowledge of LA-Bellevue into every household in this city by covering life as it happens in our unique neighborhood.

We will connect the residents of Bellevue through articles written by people just like you, cover interesting topics and events in the area and promote local businesses in a way that’s not intrusive. We are aiming to create a magazine that is fun, interesting and easy to read.

We want all of our readers to feel comfortable reading Bellevue Lifestyle Magazine. The main goal of the magazine is to promote local businesses in a way that’s not intrusive, while bringing awareness and knowledge of Bellevue into every household in this city through articles written by people just like you. We want everyone reading it to feel like they are part of this neighborhood, connecting with each other at the personal level.

About Bellevue Lifestyle Magazine :

1. The magazine is a community-focused magazine :

Since we are focusing on the community, we want to set the tone of our magazine so it’s welcoming and inviting to any reader. One way that we’re intending to do this is by making the layout of the magazine friendly, with plenty of color and images to catch your eye. We will also have an interactive feature where readers can submit articles, or even just suggestions or tips in their area.

We will make sure any submission is reviewed before it goes live so that submissions are appropriate for our audience and designed in a way that stay true to our brand. The audience will feel like they are writing for Bellevue Lifestyle Magazine – not the other way around!

2. We aim to connect the residents of Bellevue :

Our goal is to bring awareness and knowledge of LA-Bellevue (the area from downtown to the 405, from Venice Blvd to the 110) into every household in this city by covering life as it happens in our unique neighborhood.

We will do this by having a variety of articles that all touch on different topics – whether you are interested in local politics or finding a new restaurant, we have it covered. We also are going to feature businesses, ideas and people who make up our community by writing profiles on them with photos and quotes.

3. We will have a comfortable reading and learning experience :

We want this to be a fun, interesting and easy to read magazine, not one that is too serious and doesn’t appeal to all readers. We are aiming for an average length of 4-8 pages (depending on the issue) with about 8-12 articles for each issue. The articles and the information contained in them should be factually correct, but we will also mix it up by including opinion pieces or giving our readers some big news items.

4. We want to promote local businesses in a way that will not be intrusive :

One of the main reasons we are starting this magazine is to connect the residents of Bellevue through local businesses in a way that’s not intrusive. We want to share the best parts about being in this neighborhood with our readers, whether it’s a new restaurant, an app for finding friends nearby or an event coming up, we will share it all. What better way to do that than by providing the best information from locals who know and love what they’re doing?

5. We want to create a magazine that is fun, interesting and easy to read :

We want articles to be short and sweet (12-18 single spaced pages, depending on the issue) with an average length of 2.5 pages. We don’t want long winded essays or articles that are too serious – we want them to be relatable and easy to read. We also are going to provide some infographics, videos, quotes and other fun items in each issue as well.

6. We are aiming for a Kickstarter launch of the magazine in mid-September 2011 :

We are looking for a table of contents, first 8 pages and first layout for the magazine. Since we want our magazine to be ready to launch in September, we need all of these visuals to come together before then.

7. We will be using Kickstarter to fund creative services and merchandise :

Our model is a creative services and merchandise model – that way not only do we get the funds needed to create our magazine in a timely manner but we also have an incentive to make a great product that our backers love.
